Jana Praha — AI “closing boutique” fake shop

jana-praha.cz

A fake Czech “closing-down” fashion boutique run by an emotional owner persona, pushed through thousands of Facebook ads. Gen Digital (Norton/Avast) documented that the owner, storefront and photos are AI-generated and that clicks lead to a Shopify store built to harvest shoppers' card details. Note: the real, unrelated boutique “Eshop Jana” (eshopjana.cz) is a separate victim of the name confusion, not part of this scam.

Brand impersonation · advertising since 2025 · active

A fake “closing boutique” fabricated end to end by AI — the tearful owner, the shopfront and the reviews are all synthetic, and the only real thing is the checkout that harvests your card.

Our opinion, based on the public evidence below, as of 20 Jul 2026. How we work & right of reply →

The evidence — every signal, shown

Identity & legitimacy

  • AI-generated owner persona

Gen Digital found the boutique owner is not a real person: her photos are AI-generated and shift subtly between ads, wrapped in a fabricated farewell story ('After many years of love and dedication to my boutique... the time has come to say goodbye').

  • Domain registered March 2025

WHOIS cited by Gen Digital shows jana-praha.cz was registered only in March 2025, contradicting the ad's claim of a long-established boutique closing after 'many years'.

  • Not the legitimate Eshop Jana

The real, unrelated Czech boutique Eshop Jana (eshopjana.cz) has publicly distanced itself from this operation because of the shared 'Jana' name — it is a separate victim of the confusion, not part of the scam.

Payment

  • Card details harvested at fake checkout

Clicking an ad redirects to a Shopify store translated into Czech where, per Gen Digital, entering payment details risks losing money immediately or later through unauthorized card use.

Dropship & impersonation

  • Copied foreign template, impossible logistics

A leftover Dutch browser-tab title points to a reused foreign template, while an always-stocked catalog with 'new arrivals' in every size is inconsistent with a small boutique that is supposedly closing.

Ad behavior

  • Thousands of rotating ads, no organic posts

The e-shop is pushed through multiple Facebook pages carrying no organic content — only thousands of rotating ad variations, each shown to a small audience briefly to suppress negative comments and evade detection.

Review authenticity

  • Inflated social proof, no real footprint

The site touts generic praise and claims of thousands of satisfied customers while having no verifiable reviews, no real map location and no store history.
